Since finding my apprenticeship, I've never looked back.
Millen joined us in our latest intake of apprentices as part of the Product Team. His role in the Product Team involves sourcing offers for TV, social media, and WhatsApp and updating the Hays Travel website.
“My apprenticeship is mint! I have always struggled in a classroom environment. However, the smaller class sizes and 1-2-1 support at Hays Travel have helped me massively I found the apprenticeship after looking with my mam. She suggested it would be a good option as she knows people who worked here, and they speak very highly of it.”
“Everybody on my course has felt comfortable enough to contribute and I’ve had a really good support system. I have learnt a lot of life skills, timekeeping, and organisation skills. And I enjoy earning while I’m learning. I’ve picked the role up quickly and really enjoy working with the people on my team. The atmosphere at Head Office is great. You should definitely apply, in Head Office, there are so many different roles to choose from and the support you receive is amazing".”
Millen eventually would like to become Head of Marketing. But, in the meantime, he is enjoying working through his apprenticeship and learning new skills every day.
The fresh start I needed.
“When I got the apprenticeship, I thought it was going to be like school. However, I found that it was so much more supportive. The tutors were patient and adapted their learning plan to help with my ADHD. My Learning & Development coaches challenged me daily which made me realise they were there to help me. They knew what I needed before I knew and made me realise my true potential. Everyone believed in me here. My learning style was prioritised, and I was able to work at my own pace.”
During her apprenticeship, Lexie learned valued life skills and customer service along with passing her functional skills in maths. Lexie loves her current role and enjoys helping customers.
“I love that my role is so varied, and I never know what call I will get each day- it keeps me on my toes. I feel comfortable here- I belong. I’ve made friends for life and would love to progress in the company. Looking back now I don't recognise myself. I wouldn't be where I am today without the amazing support system, I have at Hays Travel.”
Lexie completed her apprenticeship with a Distinction Level 2 Customer Service.
It was a great chance to earn and learn.
Zakiya was unsure what she wanted to do but after studying a business marketing module she knew marketing interested her. After securing an apprenticeship in social media operations, Zakiya supports branches with their pages and looks at elevating performance and creating assets.
“The apprenticeship was a great option for me as I was able to earn and learn but also gain valuable experience within marketing. I had a great relationship with the learning and development team. They knew me better than I knew myself. Here at Hays Travel, my voice is listened to. I can suggest ideas and encourage positive changes. I recently implemented a multi-faith room in our Head Office in Sunderland.”
Zakiya Completed her L2 Customer Service Apprenticeship with a Distinction. She is now preparing to start a new Digital Marketing Apprenticeship and is keen to progress and gain experience in other departments within the larger marketing team.
